Prof. Una Riekstina is the director of the pharmacy studies program at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Latvia. The development of targeted drugs and the biocompatibility of plant bioactive substances and biomaterials in the preclinical stage are her key research interests. Organ-on-chip models for targeted therapies, as well as induced pluripotent stem cells for studying neuromuscular diseases, are the focus of recent endeavors by her lab.
