Johann Gout
Johann Gout is a scientist and team leader at the Institute of Molecular Oncology and Stem Cell Biology, Ulm University Hospital. His research focuses on pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, with particular emphasis on patient-derived organoids as disease models for therapy-response prediction and on tumor microenvironment biology. A major part of his work uses organoid pharmacotyping to connect functional drug testing with translational precision oncology in pancreatic cancer. He also investigates DNA damage response defects, homologous recombination deficiency, and TGF-β-mediated stromal programming as determinants of treatment sensitivity and resistance. By linking functional readouts with mechanistic tumor biology, he aims to better define therapeutic vulnerabilities and inform more rational therapy stratification.
