Christoph Kaleta
Head of research group "Medical Systems Biology"
Research Group Medical Systems Biology, Institute for Experimental Medicine, University of Kiel and University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein, Germany
Christoph Kaleta has studied Bioinformatics at the University of Jena (2003 – 2008). Subsequently, he obtained a PhD at the University of Jena (2010) and was appointed Assistant Professor of Theoretical Systems Biology (2011). In 2014 he was appointed professor of Medical Systems Biology at the University of Kiel. His group works on the development and application of systems biological approaches for the analysis of large-scale data sets in the context of metabolism. In this context, they focus on the role of host-microbiome-interactions in the pathogenesis of diseases and how those interactions could be modulated as novel therapeutic approach in the context of aging and chronic inflammatory diseases.
