Ulrika Beitnere
Ulrika Beitnere is a senior scientist and project lead at the Max-Delbrück-Center, with a diverse background spanning pharmacology, genome editing, and neuroscience, focusing on translational science and precision medicine that bridges research with medical applications. Originally from Latvia, she earned her Ph.D. in Pharmacology in Dr. Vija Klusa’s lab, where she worked on small molecule drugs in rodent models of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. She later completed a postdoc at the University of California, Davis, in Dr. David Segal’s lab, using zinc fingers and CRISPR to unsilence a long non-coding RNA strand in Angelman Syndrome. Currently, she aims to enhance the functionality of stem cell-derived organoids and leverage her CRISPR expertise for functional screening. She is also interested in integrating these advancements into an organ-on-chip platform to study interactions between different organ systems, advancing regenerative medicine, precision medicine, and disease modeling.
